Changing the Wallpaper on your Promethean Panel

Our new Promethean Panels are lovely in that they are like having an interactive large-screen monitor on our walls.  Now, many of us like to have inspirational, majestic, or awe-inspiring images to look at on our computer monitors or walls.  Well, did you know you can change the background of your Panel?  It is relatively easy and gives you the option to customize your room even further.

Here are two different ways to change your panel wallpaper:

  1. Use the web from the panel> find an image you want> save the image as your wallpaper
  2. Create a folder in your Google Drive full of images you may want to use > login to Cloud Connect on your Panel to connect our Drive and Panel > save an image as your wallpaper
The first step for both of these is to find the image you want.  The absolute easiest way to do that is to search online, find the image you want to use, and save it.  Depending on what method you decide to use above, you will need to find images that are high quality and in landscape orientation.

Getting Images

From the Panel

If you are getting the images directly on the Panel, you will need to use the web browser that is built into it.  This browser is called Chromium.

From your Unified Menu click the Locker

Then choose the Chromium app
Just like Chrome, you can search for the image you want.  I would suggest using keywords like "background" or "wallpaper" to ensure it will fill the screen.

Once you have found the image you want, you will need to save it to your Panel.  To do so, just touch and hold the image and a box will pop up.  Scroll down in the box until you find "Download Image."  If this is the first time you're saving from Chromium, you may have to grant access to save files.  Go ahead and hit "accept."  You won't have to do that again.  If you need help, see the GIF below.

In Your Google Drive

Find images you like and save them to a folder in your Google Drive.  Remember, to make a folder in Google Drive, go to the +New button in the top left and click "Folder."  Create your folder to store images in.  You can save images you find from across the interwebs right to this folder.

*Tech Tip:  If you are saving images and your Drive does not give you the option to choose a

download folder (or
where to save it), there is a way to fix it!  In the top right corner of your Google Chrome Browser, click the three dots.  Look down for "Settings."

From there, you will need to click on  "Downloads" on the left side.  Make sure that "Ask where to save each file before downloading" is clicked!  (See below)

Cloud Connect

Cloud Connect hooks your Google Drive (or OneDrive, if you're a Microsoft user) to the Promethean Panel.

From your Unified Menu, choose the Locker.

In the locker, click the Cloud Connect app

From there, click Google Drive > Sign in with your Google Account > Allow Access

You will see the box below that has your email address with the Google Drive Icon.  If you see this, to begin with, with someone else's name, click the +ADD ACCOUNT and go through the steps above (login with your Google Account and Allow access).  You will only need to do this once per panel.

Changing the Wallpaper

Now that you have the images you want, it's time to put them on your panel!  This part is relatively easy.

1) Open your Unified Menu and choose the Locker
2)  Click on the Settings Gear Cog to the left side
3)  Click on More Settings

4)  Scroll down a little way to see "Display"

5) Again, you may have to scroll down a bit, but find and click Wallpaper
6)  Choose Wallpapers
7)  From here, click on the My photos button
8)  This will open up a file box for you to choose where to find photos from.  Look to the left side for your Google Drive.  Click here and find your folder with your saved wallpapers.

8)  Find the wallpaper you want.  Click the icon/file for the wallpaper.  The preview will show up in the small window. If it looks good and you want it to be set, click the check in the top left corner of the box!

Any images you try will remain along the bottom for easy access later on.  If you're done, you can close out the file box by clicking the "X" in the bottom right corner.

Now your Panel is unique and exactly what you want!
