Printable Stickers

My last blog post was about making digital stickers of yourself.  This might be a little too difficult for some of you and that is okay!  Why not start with creating physical stickers that you can stick right on worksheets for kiddos?  Not everything is done on the computer and sometimes we need to leave feedback for students on a printed sheet.

The easiest way I've created stickers is with the Bitmoji Extension and Avery LabelsYou will need an account for Bitmoji and you will need to give Avery your email address to download the templates.  If this is your first time using the Bitmoji Extension, this article is great at walking you through set-up and use!

Once you have a Bitmoji extension, you can start to search for fun images to make stickers.  You can also log in to www.bitmoji.com and search that way.  Unfortunately, Bitmoji just updated their platform so that you cannot use custom text anymore.  We used to be able to type in whatever we wanted and Bitmoji would create an image with those words.  See my "Techie Trojan" sticker.

I will show you later how to make stickers your own with Google Drawings.  For now, let's just stick with what Bitmoji has to offer as it is the easiest way!  Depending on the shape of your sticker, find the label that works for you.  You can do this at the store or online and then order the labels to be shipped to you.  I found labels at the store, returned to school, and created my labels from the template number.  I like the Avery Presta 94506 for round stickers or the Avery Template 22805 for square stickers.  You will see on the Avery website, that they only offer templates in Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, PDF, or Apple Pages.  This is fine if you have access to these files.  Just download your templates and then follow the instructions to copy/paste your Bitmoji into each space.  At our school, we use Google apps, so I need Google Docs templates.  The "Labels Merge" website has both of these labels and more!  Plus, I don't need to log in to create the label templates.  I just click the label I want and it creates a copy!  Easy🍋 peasy🍋 lemon🍋 squeezie!

Once you have your Google Doc template, the fun begins!  Click on your Bitmoji extension and start searching for images.  I used the word "Compliments" to search for images that provide positive feedback.

You can see all of the fun images it came up with.  All you need to do is copy and paste the image from the extension to the template. Right-click on the image you want to use, choose "copy" and then go to your template and click where you want the image to go.  Either right-click and hit "Paste" or just use the ctrl + v keys.

You can use other search terms like, awesome, great, good job, etc.  There are hundreds of fun bitmoji images you can use!

Once you've completed your template, print it out.  Now you have your own stickers for kiddos (or adults, as I use them)!

Creating Personalized Stickers

Let's say you want to create a more personalized sticker for your students or co-workers.  Bitmoji used to create images from any text you typed in the search bar, but for some reason, they have ended that feature (see my Boooo! bitmoji).  You can still create your own images with Google Drawings.

I always start in Google Drive by making a new folder.  You can name it "Stickers" or the like.  Of course, I would HIGHLY recommend putting all of your template documents, bitmojis, etc. into this folder.  It will keep things organized moving forward!

In the folder, click New > More> Google Drawings.  That will create your template directly in your folder.  To make things easier, I would suggest resizing your drawing so that it fits the size of your
sticker.  When you save it as an image, it allows you to know exactly the size it will be when you paste it into the template.  There are two ways of doing this.  You can either go to the File >  Page setup.

Select a size from the dropdown menu. To choose your own size, select Custom.  Or you can just "grab" the bottom right corner of the Drawing and drag it to the size you need.  (See the gif)

Next, start building your sticker! I usually start with a shape (circle or square) depending on the shape of my sticker.  I use the "Word Art" to make it fancy and add my bitmoji over the top.  If you want just a plan bitmoji of yourself standing, try searching for the word "pose."  If you just want your face, search for the word "smile."  Create your sticker to be one of a kind.  When it is completed, download it as an image!  Go to File > Download > PNG.  (You can do a JPG, but PNG is better quality images so I prefer that).  Make sure to save your image into the folder with your stickers!

The final step is opening your Google Doc label template and using the Insert > Image > Google Drive.  You can add your stickers exactly where they fit on the label.

As always, let me know if you need any help!
