Tech Tip

of the Month!

2-Factor Verification

Thank you for working with us to turn on 2-Factor Verification for everyone in the district!  At this point, EVERY district employee is now protected by a second level of cyber security.  If you are an iPhone user and you are having trouble accessing your Homer email on your phone, remember, you have to use the Gmail app.  If you are receiving notifications that your “mail is unavailable” follow the steps outlined on page 2 of this document to help.     2-Step Verification Mobile

As always, if you need more assistance, please reach out!

Things Lancy reads for fun!

Panel Updates!

You may have noticed some changes to your Promethean Panel.  The new update has fixed the timer and spinner sound issue.  You can now use the timer/spinner while you are on the computer input with SOUNDS. You can also upload large lists with a flash drive to make the creation of the “wheel of names” or the like much quicker and easier!

Here are my updated how-tos!

Finally, the annotation tool has been upgraded as well!  Now, you can hide annotations without them being deleted AND you can save them to share with students later!

How to Keep Students Writing
in the Age of AI Tools

By Edutopia

With the rise of new Artificial Intelligence tools that are changing the way students write, it’s important to remember that these tools aren’t going away.  We as educators need to teach students to be lifelong learners in the world of the future, even if that doesn’t exist yet.  This article says, “One way to keep original thought alive in students is to consider instructional design.”  Even though AI is becoming more intertwined in the writing process, it’s important to remember the HOW of our instructional methodologies.  Teachers and human connection will never be replaced by robots!

Don’t forget!

The NEW STAFF TECHNOLOGY PACKET for 2023 has been completely reformatted and redone!  By using our “Start Page” as a guide, each section tells what a link is, how to access it (even if you’re not at school to use the Start page), and who to contact if you need help.  Check it out!
